• charting stars vs. creating constellations

  i was meeting with a friend yesterday to brainstorm a new business initiative. he let out a good belly laugh when i said “we don’t need to rechart the stars here…just create new constellations.” i was underlining where i thought we needed to head with a proposed iphone app, and using the model of citysearch making use of yelp’s best practices in their re-packaged version of same. true, the apps look similar…but what is truly brand new?
