tony doggett band – the psychedelia comeback

over the weekend,  i completed work on a promotional poster for the tony doggett band – one of my favorite music industry clients. in addition to being a worldly guy with a background in usaid and development, tony loves psychedelic art. not sure if you noticed, but this genre is making a bit of a comeback.

this was a fun project that gave me a ton of room to roam with my creativity (literally). the direction that tony gave me was “something with a river or a road – motion.”  as you can see in the poster, i started with a river along the top, but progressed into floating souls, a giant butterfly and a pinwheel. tony is ecstatic! the blue text along the bottom is to simulate how a sharpie might look as tony goes to customize the poster for a show. with efforts like these, you design and print a shell and leave an area blank for on-demand customization. in the case of a band poster, the on-demand bit is almost always information about an upcoming appearance or a new record that’s being pushed.
