early this morning, at the end of his second of three appearances in a row on the tonight show, prince gave an audience member a real taste of what it’s like to play guitar hero. um, yeah…if you could just hold this blazing guitar for a second – that would be just great. thx! it’s funny how a little publicity stunt like this can get people talking. the guy looked like he had won the lottery. watch for yourself. if you’ve got the bandwidth, then be sure to click the “HQ” button for a highest quality video available.

those who know me the best know that i’m a big fan of prince – going all the way back to 1982 with little red corvette. i’m well aware that many find the dude to be eccentric, a bit too religious and “a little funny” in general. that’s cool, to each their own and i certainly can’t say that i know the man or what really makes him tick. what i do know is that there is nobody on earth right now – save maybe barack obama – who commands a stage like prince. aside from being a rock and roll hall of famer and winner of just about every music award there is to win, he has been THE innovator on the music scene with regards to concert staging, the internet, fan clubs, independent distribution, and music marketing. if you’ve got the bandwidth, then be sure to click the “HQ” button for the highest quality video available.

i’m currently working on a branding effort for a cupcake company in california. it’s been a while since my last effort at naming a business and i forgot just how much fun it can be! i think i have a natural talent for it – due to my background as a songwriter. the way a name sounds is just one of five things that i find desirable when naming or renaming a business.

  • world baseball classic – advertising

Posted on March 24th, 2009 etownsend No comments

below is my final promotional in the world baseball classic series. i’ve been following baseball for just over 30 years and this was the probably the greatest game i’ve ever watched. while the plot developed slowly at the outset, the action came to a furious finale in the last few innings. there are literally too many plays to highlight here – nearly every one in the last few innings was special.

    as the ad reads…

“the score is 3-3 in the 10th inning. the winning run stands at third base and one of the greatest hitters in baseball history steps into the box – #51 ichiro. first base is open. walk him. korean manager in-sik kim elects to challenge. ‘he’s got him where he wants him’ calls commentator steve phillips. smack!”
